Blog posting is good habit and it's useful to generate traffic on our site.

But for getting traffic on our blog, we have to work more on our blog also we have to promote our blog in various directories and search engines. my point is, if we works hard on blog to get it on top and divert it's traffic on our site, is it possible to use same efford on our site to get it top or blog is necessary to get traffic?

pls suggest me for same.
